Same Great Blue, but from the other side so now he's back lit and I'm staring almost straight into the sun. Despite having to work around a little lens flare I like the overall effect. (And his plume is still too cool :-)
Yet another picture of a Great Blue Heron, but I couldn't resist ...the black plume off the back of the head is just too cool.
Mom was keeping a watchful eye on the young one from her spot in the bush, but eventually came out for a short visit as well.
Much to my surprise and delight, the Black-crowned Night-Herons had decided to come out of hiding for a short while to enjoy the sunshine.
... before deciding he'd had enough fun for one day.
The plover posed for a few shots ...
The next weekend brought actual sunshine and not just a lack of rain. Headed out to Brunswick Point, but the only creatures that were stirring were a few cormorants, gulls, and this Black-bellied Plover.
It's absolutely fascinating to watch hundreds of birds fly together like they're a single entity.
